Immersive Experiences
Researching and developing multi-sensory augmented reality and virtual reality applications for use in human-behavioral research.
The Immersive Empathic Interface Lab (IEI Lab) is at the forefront of cutting-edge research in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and data-driven Empathic Computing. Our lab is dedicated to developing fully personalized, immersive, and interactive experiences designed to address complex real-world challenges. We leverage immersive environments combined with AI-driven empathic computing, utilizing biometric data such as non-verbal gestures, eye gaze, brain activity, and physiological signals. Our focus is on enhancing human emotion, perception, and cognition to create transformative solutions across various domains, including education, training, collaborative environments, simulation, and healthcare. Understanding and analyzing the digital domain with a virtual avatar, embodiment, multi-sensory, intuitive user interface system, using both empirical and statistical examination to effectively deliver the immersion and interaction experience is key in our research.
Researching and developing multi-sensory augmented reality and virtual reality applications for use in human-behavioral research.
Leveraging machine learning to recognize, interpret, process, and simulate human affects.
Designing interfaces for novel interactions, with particular focus given to social implications such as privacy and cybersickness.
The IEI Lab is actively looking for highly motivated students with a passion for solving challenging research problems in Immersive Reality, Empathic Computing, and Human-Computer Interaction. We are welcoming Ph.D., M.S., and Undergraduate researchers! Ideal applicants should have the following qualifications:
